Project Background
I visited an architecture on a business trip that was titled with solitude when I was working as an editorial intern at Harper’s Bazaar Art in Beijing in 2018. This architecture is the Seashore Library by Gong Dong, which is only about three hours away by driving from Beijing. When I was at the site, I surprisingly felt that all the tiredness and anxiety of living in a massive city had been blown away. It was the first time in my life that an architecture moved me.
The Ideation
Staying solitary is a necessary skill to have for people today because we are all living in an overstimulation world; The beauty of solitude is abstract, but it could be preesented by architecture since the architects create a space for their visitors to observe and feel both physically and spatially.
The Solution
A series of promotional materials for an exhibition that showcases architectures that convey a sense of solitary.
